Why we are doing this

The ongoing RAM shortage has driven manufacturing costs up dramatically and made them hard to predict. To manufacture Flipper One, we now need to plan production volumes and secure component orders well before the Kickstarter campaign begins.

Unfortunately, a price this low is no longer economically sustainable for the full production run. We can still offer a limited number of Flipper One units at a special price to our community and early supporters. Pre-orders will help us plan production and give the crowdfunding campaign a strong start.

The risks:

  • Campaign success depends on higher-priced sales. We need to sell enough Flipper One units at higher prices to cover production costs.
  • RAM prices remain unpredictable. Memory costs can change dramatically, and even our highest planned price may not be enough to make production profitable.
  • Production planning is more challenging than ever. We must commit to component orders and production volumes long before we know actual demand, increasing our financial risk.
